NH-84000 View of USS Shaw's (DD-373) wrecked bow section, severed from the rest of the ship by the explosion of her forward magazines during the December 7, 1941 Japanese air raid on Pearl Harbor. Photographed in the floating drydock YFD-2 on January 11, 1942, as salvage operations were underway. Guns visible are Shaw's forward 5""/38 mounts.
NH-84004 View taken on December 10, 1941, at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, showing the Arizona (BB-39) sunk at her moorings as a result of the Japanese attack on December 7. Ships in the background include (from left to center): USS Tangier (AV-8), USS Solace (AH-5), a Brooklyn class light cruiser, and the hulk of the old minelayer USS Baltimore (CM-1).
NH-84007 Closeup view of torpedo damage to the USS Oglala's (CM-4) port side midships hull, taken on July 4, 1942 in drydock at the Pearl Harbor Navy Yard. Oglala had been sunk beside Pearl Harbor's 1010 dock during the December 7, 1941 Japanese attack, but was not herself directly hit. The heavy damage to her hull seen here was caused by the explosion of an aerial torpedo on USS Helena (CL-50), which was alongside some eight feet distant from Oglala.
NH-95569 View of USS California (BB-44), taken a day or two after the Japanese raid. USS Bobolink (AM-20), at left, USS Vireo (AM-52) and YW-10 are off the battleship's stern, assisting with efforts to keep her afloat.
